AIFT is implementing Digital Equalizer program in 50 schools of Patiala to empower teachers with technical and pedagogical skills to improve the learning’s of the students.Student’s active engagement in the teaching learning process is also ensured through Project Based Learning.
Apart from training, AIF encourages and motivate creativity and critical thinking of students by organizing various student activities like quiz contest, writing completion, speech competition, drawing competition etc. This year on the eve of “Teachers Day”i.e. 5th September 2013 AIF in collaboration with DE school staff organized a writing competition of students on the topic "What Students Want from Teachers?” AIF trainer’s supported students to exhibit their creative thoughts in the form of essay. The main objective of observing teacher’s day and writing competition was to aware students about importance of teacher in life and encouraging their creativity by giving them an opportunity to present their feelings about what new or extra they want from teachers. Students write their views in the form of text and pictures.

Details of various activities organized in schools are as follows:

1.                  Teachers’ Day Celebration at GHS Gandhi Nagar -Patiala
In GHS Gandhi Nagar, Teacher’s day was observed by organizing various students activities like essay writing, drawing competition, song competition and dance performances.Students from all classes (6th-10th) participated in these activities and exhibited their talent.In the essay writing competition, each student of the schoolwrote his/her views on the topic” What students want from their teachers” and expressed their expectations from their teachers.

Apart from the writing competition some students made beautiful drawings of on the topic” Teachers Day”. It helps in encouraging creativity and promotes visual intelligence of the students

After the essay writing and drawing competition the whole staff and students gathered in the school hall. AIF trainer SapnaMenon explained students about historical background and importance of this day. She told students that teacher’s day is observed on birthday of great teacher ShriSarvapalliRadhakrishnan .i.e 5 september from 1962.  She also explained that on this day we pay regards and gratitude to our teachers for guiding us as a torch bearer to grow further in our life and achieve our goals. She also acknowledge it is noble profession and teachers are creater’s who creates students as officers, engineers, doctors  and above all a good human being for the society.

The school staff selected one best entryfrom each class from 6th to 10th in the essay writing competition.These selected students were given an opportunity to share their suggestions with all the staff and students of the school. It helped in building confidence level of students and removing their barriers to speak on stage. Second and third place Write up’s from each class were shared in their classes next day.

School staff used this opportunity to promote cultural activities and cultivate new talent in the students. Students were given opportunity to present their talent in the form of poem, song and dance.

At the end School head Mr. Rajnish Gupta appreciated the effort done by students and motivated them to continue exhibiting their creativity. He also appreciated the efforts done by teachers improve the academic and non- academic performance of the students. 
He gave special thanks to American India Foundation Trust for providing techno-pedagogy training to the teachersdue to which their one teacher Mrs. Hema Miglani got nominated for the MHRD award for Use of ICT for innovation in Education. He added that AIF training has increased active engagement of the students through PBL and other activities. He also thanked Ms. Sapna Menon who initiated this event in the school and gave a platform to students to share their view for betterment of teaching learning process.

2.         GHS RamgarhMotibagh (Patiala)

On 5th September, Teacher Day was observed at Govt. High School RamgarhMotibagh in a very unique and different way.On the eve of teacher’s day an essay writing competition on the topic”what students want from their teachers” was held in the school. Students from all classes participated in this competition. There is final two best entries was declared 1st and 2nd in this Essay writing competition. Some girl students sing a song in respect of their teachers. In that song, various good qualities of teachers are described.

                                Finally, the Headmaster of the school in his brief speech encourages the students with good wishes and blessings. He told the students about the history of teacher’s day. He also told the students why teacher’s day is celebrated in our country.

3.      GHS Darouli (Patiala)
Teachers' Day is celebrated as a tribute to the valuable contribution made by teachers to the society by imparting knowledge and enlightening and shaping the career of students.
On teacher day, an essay writing competition of students was organized in GHS Darouli District Patiala with the initiative of American India Foundation Trust. The topic of essay writing competition was “What students want from their teachers?” Students from class 6th to 10th participated in the competition. Students expressed their views about their teachers, teachings style and methodologies.
AIF trainer and school staff evaluate the student’s essays and best 3 essays were given opportunity to present their essay in front of whole class. Best 3 essays from school were given opportunity to present their essay to all the teachers and students of the school.  School teachers distributed the prizes to best 3 students. Students were very excited. Students were very much excited about the contest as they got opportunity to express their demands and views about their teachers and teaching methodologies.

4.                       Teacher day at GSSS Ulana, Patiala.

On 5th September’13,teacher’s day was observedat Govt. Senior Secondary School Ulana. All the staff members, students observed this day in school. An essay writing competition was held in the school on this occasion. There were 9 groups of students from all classes participated in this essay writing competition with the use of charts.

Along with essay writing competition a debate competition was also organized for the students. In that debate, various qualities of teachers are described. Next day in assembly students were awarded by Principal, GSSS Ulana. Pencils and copies were distributed to the winner students  and participating students were also awarded.
